Anton Gorski assumed the position of Moonbase Alpha Commander for the first of two separate stints on June 2, 1995, replacing Giovanni Petra.[N 1]

On 18 August 1997, Gorski resigned as Moonbase Commander due to a personal crises on Earth, and was replaced by Anatoly Grodno, who retained the post until the 7 January 1998 appointment of Hiroshi Nakamura.[3] Gorski subsequently regained command of Alpha and held the post until his dismissal and replacement by Koenig in September 1999, shortly before the moon was blasted out of orbit.
